“People will forget what you said. People will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.”
- Maya Angelou
As a therapist, I believe that the space in which you heal is of great importance. I strive to create a safe and supportive space for the healing process. We all have strengths, and I am here to help you acknowledge them as you begin to heal and grow in the direction you choose. I have a personal mantra to help others see their value, dignity, and worth.
Through my experience as a mental health and addictions counselor, I have had the pleasure of working with adults and teens who are working toward recovery of anxiety, depression, trauma, addiction and relationship issues. In addition to individual therapy, I have experience providing family and group therapies. In my 11 years in the social work field, I have provided these services in an office, community, hospital, and residential setting.
I believe in providing a collaborative and strengths-based approach when creating treatment goals and areas of focus for recovery. Being collaborative, I am able to tailor treatment to styles and modalities that fit your needs such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Cognitive Processing of Trauma. I will help you explore issues and develop solutions in a safe and supportive environment.
On a personal note, I am a graduate of Indiana State University where I obtained my Bachelor of Social Work degree. During that time, I was the National Association of Social Workers student of the year both regionally and in the state. I was honored for my service to the community through philanthropy at the NASW state conference. I furthered my education through the IU school of Social Work in Indianapolis at IUPUI and obtained a Master of Social Work degree. Throughout my career, I have been a student, social worker, wife, and mother. I have a supportive husband and 3 wonderful children. I am also fortunate to have 2 beautiful granddaughters who keep us very busy. My family enjoys camping and spending time together.
If you have identified a need for support to help sort through the unmanageable in your life and would like a collaborative partner in the process, come talk with me. Together, we will work to develop the tools and skills you need to heal and recover in the manner you choose.
